New Year, Renewed Identity

This year I sat down, like most years, with the same old thoughts of resolutions and such. What would I change? What goals would I set? What would set 2017 apart from the past years? Then God gave me a phrase, “New year, renewed identity”.  Oh man! This year is gonna be soooo good!

So what exactly does that mean?

Over the last year and a half we have had some trials! For me one of the biggest one was blowing my ACL playing volleyball. I went up for a hit and came down without an ACL! (but I won the point!)  I proceeded to have surgery and then PT to get whole again inorder for me to be able to coach our high school volleyball  team again.

All of that was followed by a trying but miraculous time with our son which I am sure I will write about at a later date.

From those two big things happening I had a bit of a breakdown in who I was. Who am I as a mom, wife, friend, daughter of Christ. I found myself asking “what makes me different than everyone else?” or “what makes people want to know me?”. Believing lies that I was not good enough or pretty enough or skinny enough, all things that I know I am not alone in but struggled in my own way.

So back to the renewed identity, this year I will be praying for words. Praying for a revealing of truth in who I am. I am asking God for one word a month for me to pick apart and dig into.

I will be updating this blog as truths are revealed and processed out so feel free to follow along as my year of a renewed identity unfolds!

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.

Ephesians 1:7
